Michigan citizens may have the opportunity this November to vote against a troubling and deceitful constitutional amendment that would allow for unregulated embryo research in our state. Backers of this proposed amendment have made clear their campaign will be filled with false hopes and misinformation in an attempt to hide from voters the proposal’s true intentions.
As a person living with multiple sclerosis for the past ten years, the past four in a wheelchair, I would love more than anyone to find cures and new treatments for diseases and illnesses. But because this proposal unleashes a Pandora's box of frightening research and weird science, I would urge every voter to read the constitutional amendment's fine print and judge for themselves how it allows for unrestricted and unregulated experimentation on human embryos.
